GRADUATE PROFILE – CASEY GOODY
After graduating from Designworks full-time graphic design course last year, Casey Goody has started her career as an in-house graphic designer working for Gold Coast-based advertising agency, Ten Four.
Initially, Casey was brought on to the Ten Four team as a freelance graphic designer, before beginning her current role as one of the lead designers in the team.
My job allows me the opportunity to be across almost all areas of design as well as the advertising side of things, with digital, web and film, she says.
Ive always favoured branding and have had many opportunities to create client identities and carry it through a vast range of collateral and advertising – both print and digital.
Casey says her new role challenges her to create the very best possible work, and the collaborative environment fosters clever design.
I am constantly gaining new skills and exploring different creative outputs, Casey says.
I have various clients with a good variety of work and I get to be a part of a whole team that can share and help one another.
This was invaluable to me in the beginning – having the guidance of a whole creative team.
The ability for Designworks to prepare students for the industry continues to help Casey through her current role.
The mentoring I received at Designworks and the high standard that was expected of us, shaped my thinking and process as a designer, which was a great asset going into the industry, she says.
Ten Four runs quite similar to Designworks, so I was very much prepared for the transition and had a solid understanding and set of skills from Designworks that equipped me for my position even now.
Her advice for other students breaking into the industry?
Being eager and willing to learn pays off!
